Letter from the Boston Committee of Correspondence to the Portsmouth and Exter Committees of Correspondence dated December 14, 1774. The original message was sent by William Cooper with Paul Revere to the Portsmouth Committee of Correspondence to warn that the Brititsh ships were arriving to take over forts in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. The letter recommends the people in New Hampshire take the arms and ammunitions from the forts in the area. The Portsmouth Committee then copied the letter and sent it to surrounding towns. John Giddinge of Exeter wrote on the reverse that Exeter would send men and that he requests more information. This message was then sent to Josiah Bartlett of Kingston.
