- Letter from William H. H. Fernal in the field with the 12th New Hampshire Volunteers to a dear friend. Dated June 22, 1864, Fernal recounts the death of his friend and the husband to the recipient of the letter. He notes he died quickly and with little suffering during the recent battle. Fernal notes he has already buried him and will hold onto his possessions until he can send them home or get a furlough.
