- Letter from Major Frank E. Evans of the 6th Marines, A.E.F., in France to Major General George Barnett. Dated June 29, 1918, the letter provides a detailed description of their movements and actions from May 31 to June 29. The letter provides detailed information on a series of battles, noting they have been fighting since June 10, not giving an inch. He ends the letter with several suggestions, including that they have an excess of officers that should be sent back to the schools to teach the incoming recruits and that there should be a central office for records. He notes that their recorded casualties are close to 1800 and when the regiment moves, there are too many records so they have to leave some behind.
