Manuscript map of the Presidential Range of the White Mountains of New Hampshire dated circa 1855. Along the top of the map are the townships of Whitefield, Jefferson, Randolph, and Gorham. The bottom of the map shows Elkins Grant on the west, to Hadley's Purchase and Gridely's Location on the east. Geographic features include the Ammonoosuc, Saco, Peabody, and Ellis Rivers as well as tributaries. Four summits are identified by a circle with radiating lines. Only Mount Washington and Mount Pleasant (now Mount Eisenhower) are named. Four hostelries are noted: the Tip Top House, the Glen House in Pinkham Notch, and the Crawford and Willey Houses in Crawford Notch. Most of the map outlines the various "Grants", "Locations", and "Purchases" in the area, including a section of Lots in the area. The map was likely completed by Noah Barker (1807-1889) in conjunction with his surveying work for the Jackson Iron Manufacturing Company.
