Provenance:
Example from a group of wooden patterns found and removed from the attic of the former New Hampshire Bindery building at 43 South Main St., Concord, NH, in 2011 when the building was in the process of vacating for demolition. The donor is the owner of New Hampshire Bindery. The building formerly at 43 South Main St. was the former home of the Concord Machine Works (1861-1891). John A. White established the Concord Machine Works on South Main Street in Concord in 1877, taking over a firm that dated back to 1861. They specialized in making wood-working machinery. In 1891 the Somerville Machine Company of Dover bought White's business, changed the name, and moved it to Dover. These wooden patterns were among material left behind, and are coated in carbon to not stick to the sand molds.
