Charles Brewster (1972), Rambles about Portsmouth, pp.67-68: "[Arthur Slade] was from New Market. Letters of administration were granted to Henry Keese and his wife Elizabeth. This Mrs. Elizabeth Keese may have been his daughter, but nothing is shown by the Exeter records of his having a wife or descendants."
Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire (contradicts info in Brewster about having a daughter): "Kenry (Keese), tax-payer is Str. Bk. in 1717 and later a wealthy merchant, m. Elizabeth Walton (Maj. Shadrack) he adm. est. of Mr. Arthur Slade of Newmarket in 1747. List 339. Will 9 Aug. 1740..."
