Bio in Flynt & Fales: "In Keene The Columbian Informer (Sept. 4, 1793) carried an ad, 'Goldsmith and jeweler from Europe,' who made and repaired tankards, cans, creampots, table- and teaspoons, ladies' and gentlemen's silver and plated shoe, knee and bridle buckles, and did engraving in the neatest manner. In 1794 he was jailed for debt, but was soon freed. This could be the same man referred to in Samuel Davis' Memoirs, 'a native of Halle, Germany (the son of a clergyman there, as he used to say) .... He excelled in Platework by which our shop [George Tyler's shop] acquired fame. Punch Ladle's, Spurs, Boatswain's calls werre manufactured in a stile (sic) at once novel and elegent.'"
