- Dr. Marvin Goodman ( - 1970s) -- Orthopedic surgeon. Used this chest (1994.28) in his Lancaster, PA, practice. Chest previously used by Dr. Goodman�s uncles, c. 1900, who were general practitioners. Chest would have been used in a doctor�s office: small drawers for surgical tools, marble top for dispensing medicines.
Dr. William G. Phippen (b. 1924, Illinois) -- Meredith, NH. Retired orthopedic surgeon; donated chest to NHHS. Had belonged to deceased partner, Dr. Marvin Goodman, and to Goodman�s uncle before that. Dr. Phippen brought chest with him when he moved from his Lancaster, PA practice to New Hampshire. Dr. Phippen used chest for medical examination tools while working at Rehabilitation Services in Portsmouth, NH (branch of Portsmouth Hospital), 1977-1981.
