From Wentworth Geneaology, Vol. 1, p. 309: "William Pepperell Sparhawk, was, on the death of his uncle Andrew Pepperrell (only son of Sir William Pepperrell), in 1751, adopted by his grandfather Sir William, as heir to his estate, on condition that at the age of twenty-one he should drop the name of Sparhawk. He did so, and on the death of his grandfather, in 1759, inherited the property. He married Elizabeth, daughter of Isaac Royall, of Medford, Mass. He was created Baronet in 1774; was a royalist and went to England, and died at Prtman Square, London, 2 December 1816, aged 70 years, having survived his wife and his only son (William Pepperrell), but leaving three married daughters. The second Baronetcy thus became extinct."
