From Laughlin, Pewter in America (1940): "As a boy he was apprenticed to John W. Ellingwood, a silversmith and bought out Ellingwood's stock in trade in 1807. He commenced the manufacture of pewter and britannia in that town [Beverly, Mass.] about 1825 and his designs and decorations of pewter testify to his training as a silversmith.... As late as 1856 he was listed as a britannia manufacturer in the New England Mercantile Directory.... Trask made teapots, communion flagons, christening bowls, castors, lamps, and probably a great many other forms. A dignity and honesty of design is apparent in all his work."
