Notes:
From on-line biography: "Mrs. Dustin (age 39) was taken as a prisoner by Indians to an island at the junction of the Merrimack and Contoocook Rivers near where the city of Concord, NH, now stands. This is now called Dustin Island, and there is a granite monument there to her memory and that of Mary Neff, a nurse, and Samuel Leonardson, an English boy. Mrs. Dustin escaped by killing nine Indians as they slept, the English boy killing a tenth. She took their scalps as proof of her exploit. There is also a statue to Mrs. Dustin oppostie the City Hall in Haverhill (Mass.)."
