- Description:
- Over sixty interviews give voice to recollections of Squam, some going back in family lore to the mid-1700's. Others reminisce about their own lives, often set on the backdrop of their families' existence at Squam, sharing a strong sense of place. Their voices (heard with the aid of QR codes and a smart phone) convey so much more than just the narrative: an accent reflective of locality, speech tinged with emotion, narratives that paint pictures with words. Voices of Squam might be considered a chorus of expressions creating a greater melody that gives voice to the place itself, rather than a definitive history. It encompasses a real sense of everyday life over the past 150 years, a reflection of some of the experiences, attitudes, and values of Squam, and the unmistakable allure of the region.
