Description:
Provincial New Hampshire is often portrayed as conservative and unresponsive to radical causes of the 1760's and early 1770's, but throughout 1774 citizens became increasingly aware that infringement of liberties in Boston affected New Hampshire. "Tension and revolutionary sentiment developed, not suddenly and dramatically, but steadily throughout..."1774. The colony's leadership "drew back slightly" at the raid of Fort William and Mary (14-15 December 1774), but remained uncompromising in their demands for the withdrawal of arbitrary and unconstitutional authority.
