Description:
In June 1867 the New Hampshire Sentinel recorded the discovery of gold in Dublin and the sinking of a shaft by some former Dublin residents. The Sentinel and the Peterborough Transcript provide details on what happened. After initially promising reports, work stopped for no known reason until 1875. A joint stock company organized, then began a milling operation, but the undertaking came to an end when it failed to find ore worth processing after reaching the 80-foot level
