- Description:
- Focuses on the raid on Fort William and Mary that occured on December 14 and 15 1774 to examine explanations of colonial mob behavior. Analysis of two separate lists of participants from Durham suggests that many community leaders took part. This group seems representative of other contingents in the raid. If other colonial mobs were similarly composed, this would suggest that the colonial mob was a rational , thinking body made up of a disproportionately large number of the upper classes, headed by respected members of those classes.
