Description:
On 11 March 1952, in the first of 11 presidential primaries, most of the state's Republican organization carried the absent General Dwight D. Eisenhower to victory over Senator Robert A. Taft, winning all 14 delegates to the national convention. Editorials in 48 urban dailies in 41 states and the national capital judged Taft's chances hurt by this defeat.
