Description:
"The title of this article might suggest that the garrison house was indeed a myth. Nothing could be further from the truth. Garrison houses were a commonplace in the lives of the early frontier settlers of New England, although today, unfortunately, the term has come to be used to describe a type of house which never was a garrison, hence the myth."
