Description:
...series of "impressions" of Exeter contains accounts by visitors to the town during the latter half of the 18th century. Except for Dr.Tenney's more formal description, they are impressions rather than studies of Exeter. They are interesting in that they show how the town appeared to men of such different callings as a West India merchant, a chief executive of the United States, and a president of Yale College. The Exeter Historical Society publishes these sketches of the town as a small contribution towards the celebration of the Tercentenary of the Wheelwright settlement.
