Description:
In addition to gaining an understanding of ceramic technology, a study of ceramics can enable one to see the world through the eyes of earlier communities. A profound change in American living habits occurred during the 18th century, amounting to nothing less than the belated arrival of the Renaissance in colonial America. As historians make greater use of material culture they will regain the awareness of the value of objects in scholarly work they possessed before the growth of academic history in American universities in the early 20th century.
