- Description:
- When New Hampshire ratified the Constitution on 21 June 1788, it was the ninth and deciding state to do so. The ratification was followed by widespread celebrations, including a new form of celebration, the public procession, recently introduced in Boston. As in most states, Antifederalists joined the celebrations, which reflected a belief that the new frame of government offered endless possibilities and would bring prosperity and strength.
