Description:
David Andrew Warde's stone warehouse in Concord, New Hampshire, is distinguished for its architecture and its commercial history. Warde, a prominent Concord merchant, erected the building in 1870 as a warehouse for his hardware business. It was designed to minimize damage from fire, and although the interior was gutted in a blaze before its completion, the walls remained sound. The building served as a warehouse until around 1920. Then it housed clothing manufacturers for thirty years before reverting to a warehouse. The New Hampshire Historical Society took over the building in the 1990's, to use as a museum.
