Description:
Focuses on the busy season of 1900 for New Hampshire's White Mountain resort hotels. In May and June the hotels wrote former patrons to see if they would be returning. Supplies were ordered from Boston and Portland as well as from local sources. Newspapers from Boston and New York enabled guests to keep up with world events, while hiking and fishing in the mountains enabled them to escape from business concerns. Golf and baseball occasioned much excitement that summer, as hotels throughout the area assembled and trained teams. Hotels were so filled in mid-August that guests were turned away, but by September activities had begun to wind down.
