Note taped to the inside of drawer reads: "This chest of drawers belonged to my great-grandmother. She married a Carleton for her first husband and a Kimball of Haverhill Mass. for her second husband. At his death she came to Dunbarton N.H. to live with her daughter Elizabeth, who had married Jeremiah Paige. Bard Plummer the son of this Elizabeth & Jeremiah Paige is my father, who gave this chest to me. [signed] Martha Paige Robertson 1879."

The ancestor mentioned in the note above was Hannah Gage (1729-1805) of Bradford, MA, who married Peter Carleton (1720-1784) in 1751; after his death she married farmer Richard Kimball (1721-1804) of Bradford in 1788. It was also his second marriage. His first wife was Eunice Chadwick (1725-1786). After Richard's death in 1804 Hannah moved up to Dunbarton to live with her dauger Elizabeth Carleton Paige (1772-1849), whom had married Jeremiah Paige (1765-1842) in 1789. Jeremiah was the son of Judge Jeremiah Page (1730-1807), brother of Elizabeth "Molly" Page Stark. The chest passed to Elizabeth and Jeremiah's son, Bard Plummer Paige (1808-1893), who according to Ernest W. Cressey, comp., Story of Your Ancestors; Cressey: 286 Years in America (1935) "served as selectman of Bradford and N.H. Legislature. In 1850 he went to Montreal, where he was engaged in the manufacture and sale of mowing, reaping and threshing machines for 25 years" (p. 46). Bard's daughter, Martha Ford Paige (1845-1906) married John Evans Robertson (1843-1930) in 1864 in Bradford, NH.
