- Owned by Sarah Adams (1754-1838), who was born in Salisbury, MA, daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth (Bagley) Adams. She married Captain Josiah Bachelder (1752-1812) in 1775 and settled in Hawke (now Danville), NH. In 1782, the family moved to Andover, NH, where they bought and cleared land for a farm and raised a family of three sons and three daughters, born from 1776 to 1794. Sarah (Adams) Bachelder had family who lived in New Hampshire, including her elder brother, Archelaus Adams (1736-1812), who settled in Salisbury, NH, in 1792. After the death of her husband in 1812, Sarah lived with her son, Josiah (1790-1866) and his family on the family farm, where she died in 1838. The plate descended to her son, Deacon Josiah (1790-1866), then to his son, William A. Bachelder (1823-1902), and from him to his daughter, Bertha Sarah Bachelder (1859-1899), who married Dr. Charles F. Flanders (1856-1899) of Manchester. The plate next went to his son, David J. Flanders (1898-1989) of Manchester and from him to his daughter, Shirlie Flanders English, the donor.
