After completing school she married fellow artist Roland Cosgrove and settled in Boston. Alice Cosgrove returned to Concord and found work through the Works Progress Administration Federal Art Project in 1935. During World War II she worked for Hoyt Electrical Instrument Works designing precision dials for equipment. In 1946, Cosgrove began working for the New Hampshire State Planning and Development Commission, designing and producing a wide variety of promotional materials for the state. She is best remembered for her design of "Chippa Granite," the wholesome, freckled boy who was the face of New Hampshire tourism for more than a decade. Cosgrove retired and died in 1971.
