- Wood engraving, snake and bird's nest, by Frank French (1850-1933). One of 39 pages in Volume 2 of a two-volume set. Black ink on tissue paper. Vertical rectangle. Snake is wrapped around tree branches, hovering over bird's nest containing three chicks. Tree is deciduous. Snake and nest appear stylized, snake for malefic intent. Signed in pencil below image, "Frank French / Sc.", left.
