The clock was made in 1784 by Jeremiah Fellows (1749-1837) of Kensington, NH, and descended to the donors, the Heard family. Fellows was the son of a blacksmith, who worked in Kensington from 1774 to 1832. He also operated a tavern, was deacon of the Congregational Church, and a founder of the Kensington Social Library in 1798. Ebenezer Clifford (1746-1821) lived and worked as a joiner and cabinetmaker in Kensington until 1788, when he moved to nearby Exeter. After moving he became a justice of the peace and served in the state legislature, operated a gristmill, became known as an inventor, and designed the Exeter Congregational Church, built in 1798.
