- Provenance:
- The Pemigewasset House was one of three hotels by that name existing in Plymouth between 1800 and 1958. The second Pemigewasset House was rebuilt and opened in August, after the Boston, Concord, and Montreal Railroad acquired the property. A sprawling frame structure, the hotel was a major stop on the railroad, serving passengers visiting the White Mountains. It burned in 1909 and was replaced in 1912 by the third hotel bearing that name. The lithograph was owned by John F. Page (1935-2012), collector and former director of the New Hampshire Historical Society.
