- Landscape painting, "Mt. Lafayette from Ore Hill, Franconia," by Samuel W. Griggs (1827-1898), 1878. Oil on canvas, framed. Figure standing on rocky ledge in left foreground, with conifer trees to left; lake in middle ground, with sharp peak rising above it on right; Mount Lafayette and Franconia Ridge in background, rising above foggy Franconia Notch; gray, stormy sky. Signed "SW Griggs / 78" in black paint, lower left. Pencil inscriptions on back of stretcher: "Mt. Lafayette from Ore Hill / Franconia" at top, and "SW Griggs / 44 Studio Building" on left. Old label tacked to back of stretcher at bottom, with erroneous ink transcription of pencil inscriptions.
