- Engraving. Portrait of Daniel Webster (1782-1852). Engraved by Stephen Alonzo Schoff (1818-1904). Steel engraving, printed on paper. Waist-length portrait of man with dark, short hair, sideburns, white collar, white knotted neck cloth, white shirt front, dark buttoned vest, dark open suit coat, seated in armchair, facing left. Background is dark behind figure; his hand rests on the arm of the chair; on the right side is a lighter gray area which must be an opening of some kind. " Painted by C. Harding" is printed on the left just below the portrait; Engd. by S. A. Schoff" is printed on the opposite side. Four lines printed below the portrait read:" DANIEL WEBSTER / AE49. / Danl Webster (facsimile signature) / BOSTON / PUBLISHED BY LITTLE, BROWN COMPANY." On the reverse; written in pencil on upper left - "Dup". At the bottom left in pencil - "1953.12.1" and at right "Box B" as well as the current Object Number "2010.501.1146".
