Bust length portrait of an older man with a receding hairline, dark straight hair, white collar, black cravat, vest and jacket seated facing left. In the background on his right side is a table with two books, a paper, ink well and quill and the background is gray.."Daguerd by John A Whipple", "Engd by A.H.Ritchie", "Danl Webster" facsimile of signature, "PUBLISHED BY E. ANTHONY, NEW YORK.", "Entered by Act of Congress in the year 1848. by E. Anthony in the clerks / office of the District Court at the Southern District of New York." printed beneath the portrait. In the reverse side in the sleeve is another sleeve with a paper written in brown ink "Danl Webster" facsimile of signature.
