Bust-length portrait of an older man facing left, light hair combed over top, large mutton chops on side of cheek, hair extending below his chin, creases at end of eye, forehead, and under eye; wearing dark coat with lapel and collar, dark vest with collar, light shirt with turned-up collar, dark bowtie, small decoration on front of shirt, dark ribbon under vest and across the front of his shirt diagonally that extends underneath coat edge. Light gray background just over shoulders beside lower portion of face. Facsimile signature below portrait: "Josiah Stickney". Below that is: "Bufford's Lith. 490 Wash. St. Boston." In image lower right edge: "E B JR". On back in pencil at top: "Stickney GPM". Below that: "Opp p 214".
