- Engraving. Portrait of Elizabeth McFarland (1780-1838). Steel engraving, printed on paper. Bust-length portrait of a woman facing right, white sheer cap with some folded decorations on front, some hair sticking out from the front. Wearing dark-colored coat with pattern, lighter-colored dress with V-neckline, darker trim band on with side of V collar, left side overlaps right, high-colored light blouse with pleated edge around top that goes around her neck and under her chin, with white scarf. Sitting in chair with straight siderail, diagonal corner, straight crest rail with semi-circular curve that is partly hidden by her coat. Gray background encircles her. Facsimile signature: "Your affectionate friend. / ElizaH. MFarland." is underneath portrait. Plate marked edge along left and bottom sides.
