Bust length portrait of middle-age man facing right with fairly long light-colored hair, dark military coat, light colored bands along edges, 8 buttons, slight raised collar, epaulets and soft shoulder boards on both shoulders, light colored stock and cravat, light colored vest, 2 buttons, 1 button hole. Light gray background around shoulders. Engraved name "PAUL JONES." Facsimile signature below that: :J Paul Jones." in continuous line. Lower right between his left sleeve and edge of coat ? hidden mark for engraver. "B[...] that may also be part of the drawing.
