- Engraving. Portrait of Samuel G. Drake. Engraved by S. A. Schoff. Steel engraving, printed on paper. Bust-length portrait of a middle-aged man facing left, thinning hair, combed forward and partially forward over top, sideburns, full whitish beard, no mustache, coat and vest with two buttons, light-colored shirt and darkish tie. On rectangular gray background. Lines of coat and vest are very light. In addition to regular background are shading lines around chin and back of neck in background. Facsimile signature under portrait: "Saml. G. Drake". Below that are five lines upper and lower case serif lettering, "AEtatis 58. An 1857. / Ob 1875 / Presented to the Subscribers to the Folio Edition. / By a few friends of the Author." "Engraved by S. A. Schoff" at bottom of page.
