- Engraving. Portrait of Silas Dean. Steel engraving, printed on paper. Bust-length portrait of a man with white hair tied back in a pony tail tied with a black ribbon. Ruffled white shirt and gray coat, facing left; gray background. The portrait is contained within a circular frame which sets on a pedestal. There is a carved face at the top with ribbon swags leading out to either side ending with two tassels on either side. Printed at the bottom is "SILAS DEAN, Efq." Handwritten at the top: "2 1/2" and the word "all". In the lower right hand corner ; " -2 1/2 / L - 5406 / ALL OF COPY" On the back handwritten in red pencil "#133" enclosed in a red circle.
