- Engraving. "PORTSMOUTH AND ISLES OF SHOALS. / APPLEDORE ISLAND. / STAR ISLAND. / WHALE BACK LIGHT / CHURCH STAR ISLAND / PORTSMOUTH, NH". Vertical rectangle with an inset circle and peaked horizontal rectangle. Black ink on paper. At bottom, empty boat bracing and carriages in foreground with harbour and city of Portsmouth in background. In upper left corner, two lighthouses side by side, the right lighthouse being taller, darker, and thinner than the left. In upper right corner, small, one-story church with square steeple. In the circle, rocky cliffs with pair of people sitting on them, a tall, thin lighthouse with covered walkway in background, and sailboat on left. In the peaked horizontal rectangle, rocky cliffs with sailboats on water in background. Each area of the image is labeled.
