Provenance:
Chinook (1917-29) was owned by Arthur Walden (1875-1947) of Wonalancet, NH. Walden was the lead driver on Richard Byrd's 1928-29 Antarctic Expedition, and Chinook was the lead dog. This is said to be the last harness that Chinook wore before he disappeared on the expedition. Walden had intended to bury Chinook in this harness, but instead gave it to Perry Greene. It hung in Greene's office at the Chinook Kennel for many years. The donors are the current owners of the Perry Greene Kennel.
