- Description:
- Dish, green malachite veneer over grayish-brown stone (marble or limestone?). Acquired at the Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia, 1876. Shallow round dish with beveled rim and straight slanted sides. Surface consists of many pieces of Russian malachite veneer; joints are all clearly visible. Bottom is not veneered. Adhesive tape label on bottom, with ink inscription: "Russian bt. at. / Centennial 1876 / Gift of M. H. Jewell".
