Description:

Cap. Cotton tulle with a pink satin ribbon around circumference, a pink satin bow and cotton lace edging. Machine stitched. There are two diagonal seams in the front center of the cap, over the bow, that together with the ribbon make a triangle. Lace has circles embroidered on tulle, scalloped edge with "spiders" and picot, probably done by hand. Cap was pinned to dress 1994.57.1.

Provenance:

All of the clothing in this accession (1994.57.1-.16) comes from the donor's family's farm in Hebron, NH. She believes that this material was worn by her grandmother and her grand aunts. Her grandmother was Elizabeth Graves Walker Keyes (1860-1943). The clothing came out of an attic with no light at the Hebron farm.
