- Description:
- Tapestry. Machine-woven cotton. Depicts a woman wearing 18th-century style work garb, with her skirt tucked up, revealing her petticoat, kerchief tucked into the low neckline of her bodice, and a broad-brimmed, low-crowned hat. She is guiding a donkey laden with piles of textiles, baskets, and a small child who, imitating his mother, holds a stick for driving the donkey. They are walking along a forest path accompanied by a large dog. In the background is a stone arch bridge and a village with pseudo-medieval architecture. Woven in purposely muted shades of cream and tan to suggest age. Three sides are edged with a heavy tarnished silver and red metallic cord. Unlined. The top edge is stitched with rings for hanging on a rod.
