Napkin

Object Name:
Napkin
Object ID:
2002.629.03
Date:
1875-1925
Description:
White linen square, possibly a napkin, possibly a relic of an ancestral linen. Plain-woven and finished around edges with hem stitching. Marked near the center with cross-stitched initials "H J [?] / 4" worked in tan silk thread. The position of the marking and the fact that it is there at all is unusual, suggesting the possibility that this linen was saved from an ancestral sheet or other piece of linen.
