Date:

Fragment of an early 19th-century tablecloth or towel, cut down and machine-hemmed along two sides. The cloth is hand-woven in a huckaback pattern resembling honeycombs, with a cotton warp and linen weft; naturally off-white. One of the narrow edges is hemmed by hand; along this edge is worked a line of drawn thread work. The original tablecloth apparently had a fringe (probably netted), as the remnants of threads remain along the edge. The final edge is selvedge.
