- Description:
- Quilt. Pieced, in a Sunflower pattern, constructed of a Turkey red print and plain white cotton. The blocks are large (approx. 12.75" x 12.75"), and set on point with white sashing. The sashing has a red octagon appliqued at each intersection. The border is white with widely spaced appliques of pointed oval leaf motifs. Three edges are finished with white and red ball fringe, with a wide header woven with a star motif. The quilting is interlocking circles in the border and sashing, worked with white cotton thread at about seven stitches per inch. The red areas are quilted with pink thread following the piecing lines in the sunflower, and parallel lines in the square. The backing fabric is plain muslin and the edges are bound with the Turkey red calico on the straight grain under the fringe header.
