- Description:
- Tablecloth. Bronson weave linen, woven with a pattern of squares within intersecting octagons; the intersections of the octagons form diamond shapes divided by an X. Woven with Z-twist linen singles. The tablecloth is constructed with two widths of fabric and seamed up the center; all four sides are hemmed, but it appears that two sides are selvedge turned under once, so a selvedge width can be calculated at 27.75". The tablecloth bears a marking in pale brown ink that imitates the appearance of cross-stitching: "Betsy C. Morey / No born.dec.1818." The quality of linen thread used in the weaving changes at one corner, where it is darker.
