- Description:
- Blanket. "Rose." Loosely woven of cream-colored wool and brushed, with a soft, napped surface. Embroidered in the four corners with "compass rose" motifs with long herringbone stitches. Because of the fragile nature of these stitches, only remnants are left now. The embroidery yarns are wool singles in yellow, pink, and brown. A narrow stripe of brown is woven at each end. The blanket is one width; the sides are selvedge and the ends were originally finished with blanket stitching in pink yarns, but most of this has worn off and the ends are now raw. Cross-stitched initials "M T" at one end.
