- Description:
- Quilt. Center pieced in large diamonds in alternating dark blue and peach, and the drops in dark blue; cut-out corners. The fabrics are various worsteds: dark blue of the drops is a fine plain-woven worsted that appears not to have been glazed; the peach and dark blue of the pieced center are twill-woven worsteds. The backing is plain-woven beige cotton, and the batting is wool. The quilting pattern in the center is created by dividing the blocks with an X from corner to corner, then stitching each quadrant with parallel lines at 90 degree angles from the edges of the blocks. The solid dark blue of the drops are quilted with echoed Vs, forming diamond shapes. The quilting thread is blue or tan, depending on the color of the wool it is stitched through; there are 8 to 9 stitches per inch. The edges are finished with a narrow strip of the peach wool stitched to the edges and turned to the back, so that it looks like a knife edge from the front, and a bound edge from the back.
