The handkerchief descended through Josiah Bellows (1767-1846), the youngest child of Benjamin Bellows and Mary Hubbard. It descended to Louisa (1792-1878), the daughter of Josiah Bellows and Rebecca Sparhawk, who married John W. Hayward. From her, to her son John W. Hayward (1828-1913), who married Esther Crafts Morse (1830-1910), an aunt of the Edith B. Lincoln. The handkerchief was probably given to Copley Amory because he had purchased the Benjamin Bellows Homestead in 1889.
