- Petticoat. Fine white plain weave cotton. Gathered waist. Band of eyelet insertion above 6.5" eyelet hem edging. Garment all handmade, including eyelet trim.

Cotton - Provenance:
- According to donor, items were made and worn by Susan (Babcock) Atwood White, great grandmother of donor. Susan Babcock (1798-1885) was born in Hartford, VT, and married Francis Shurtleff Atwood of Bridgewater, Vt., 01/08/1824. Susan Babcock was a seamstress. Clara Williams Sherman (b. 1890) is a descendant of this marriage and resided in the N.H. Centennial Home, Concord, NH.
