Provenance:
The garment belonged to the donor's (Mrs. Paul C. Dunn) grandmother, Fostina M. Dodge, wife of Henry H. Barber. Donor writes: "Handed down to me are some lovely old gowns, and some old documents which came from my grandmother. I feel they are worthy of display and proper care rather than being locked up in an old trunk. The gowns date back to the turn of the century when John McLane was governor of New Hampshire. My grandfather, Henry H. Barber of Milford, was a personal friend of the governor, and I have always understood that some of these gowns were worn at important state functions of that era."
